Battle for Kherson | Heavy Fighting for Crucial Town, Ukraine Says Russi...
Multiple reports suggest a heavy ongoing battle in Snihurivka, a strategic town that would open the road for Ukrainian forces towards Kherson. Earlier, reports said that Ukrainian forces have partly liberated Snihurivka. However, RIA Novosti reports that Kremlin forces have repelled the assault. This comes amid the intense fighting raging between Russia and Ukraine in the eastern Donetsk region. Putin has long eyed Kherson, critical to the entire southern region that was used by Ukraine as a base to target key Russian supply routes. The Kherson region borders Crimea and provides Moscow with a land bridge to the Black Sea peninsula that it seized from Kyiv in 2014. Meanwhile, the battle of Kherson is in full swing.

Anti-Kremlin former Russian politicians reportedly gathered in Poland recently to discuss plans to oust Putin from power. The three-day gathering that began on November 4 was organised by a former Russian lawmaker Ilya Ponomarev. Kyiv claims that Russian forces are stepping up their strikes in a fiercely contested region of eastern Ukraine. The Donetsk governor said Russian shelling on seven settlements killed one civilian and wounded three people on November 5. Ukrainian authorities also said that southern Ukrainian cities came under overnight artillery and rocket fire from Russian forces. Meanwhile, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said residents should conserve supplies and consider temporarily moving out. Meanwhile, Ukraine’s envoy to Berlin has warned against dismissing the threat that Russia could use nuclear weapons in the war. German chancellor Olaf Scholz has defended his trip to China as “worth it” in order to oppose the use of nuclear weapons in Ukraine. Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Zelensky has accused Iran of lying about its drone deliveries to Russia. A Taiwanese man who volunteered to fight in Ukraine has died in combat in the eastern city of Luhansk.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, who is in Russia, held bilateral talks with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov comes amid growing global concerns over increasing hostilities between Moscow and Ukraine.
In the opening remarks by S Jaishankar at the meeting with Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Tuesday, the External Affairs Minister said the talks would be devoted to the nations’ bilateral cooperation. But, amid high anticipations, Jaishankar also made a reference to the Ukraine conflict.
“Our meeting today, is of course, devoted to assessing the state of our bilateral cooperation; exchanging perspectives on the international situation and what that means to our respective interests. Where bilateral ties are concerned, you would agree that it is our objective today to fashion a contemporary, balanced, mutually beneficial, sustainable and long-term engagement. Especially as our economic cooperation increases, this is a significant imperative. We would be discussing how our shared goals are best achieved," Jaishankar said.

Several explosions were reportedly heard in Kremenchuk in the Poltava Oblast on November 7. The Ukrainian military claims a group of mobilised Russian soldiers surrendered to them in Luhansk. Russian forces claim to have eliminated over 110 Ukrainian troops, 11 armoured vehicles and 13 motor vehicles during combat in Kherson. Ukraine’s air force says it launched 8 strikes on Russian military positions, including 4 on air defence systems.
Meanwhile, Ukraine’s Presidential adviser, Mykhailo Podolyak, has said that Kyiv is ready to negotiate with the next Russian president. Italian newspaper La Repubblica claims the US and NATO believe that peace talks on Ukraine would be possible if Kyiv takes back Kherson.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said it was vital to force Russia to participate in "genuine" peace talks, describing it as a destabilising force on a range of issues, including climate change.
Russia has hit Ukrainian infrastructure with a barrage of strikes over the past month that has destroyed around a third of the country's power stations leaving many cities facing frequent blackouts.
Ukraine hopes to use advanced air defense systems to prevent further loss of infrastructure from Russian strikes.Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov said on Monday that the country had received its first NASAMS and Apside air defense systems.
"We will continue to shoot down the enemy targets attacking us. Thank you to our partners: Norway, Spain and the US," he wrote on Twitter.

How Russia is using Belarus for missile attacks on Ukraine | DW News
Ukraine's neighbor Belarus is playing a crucial role in this war. Russian president Vladimir Putin used the territory of Belarus, his closest military and political ally, as a staging ground for his February invasion. Russian forces have since launched missiles and drones into Ukraine from Belarus. Last month, the government in Kyiv boosted its forces in the north near Belarus, to counter possible future attacks from across the border.
Belarus opposition leader Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya joined DW to discuss the situation. She was the main challenger to Belarus leader Alexander Lukashenko in a 2020 election and was then forced to leave her country under pressure. She joined DW from Strasbourg.
