The President of the United States, Joe Biden, reacting to the ascent of Rishi Sunak as the UK’s first Indian-origin prime minister, said it was “pretty astounding” and a “ground-breaking milestone”.
“I think tomorrow when he (Rishi Sunak) goes to see the king. Pretty astounding. A ground-breaking milestone. And it matters. It matters,” Biden said, acknowledging the immigrant Indian community’s achievements.
